White Water Rafting with Kaitiaki Adventures

Rotorua is full of outdoor activities, so there's no denying that you have plenty to choose from. But after deciding to try out white water rafting and absolutely loving it - we definitely think its the activity you need to do.

Although rafting is something that can do it all over New Zealand, we would recommend Rotorua. The company, called Kaitiaki adventures  were very helpful and made the whole process simples, from booking to rafting itself. All we had to do was book the trip (either by phone, online or through your hotel/hostel/campsite reception) and Kaitaki did the rest. We were picked up at a time they'd arranged with us when we booked, and all we had to remember was to hold on to our raft (for dear life!) and that their was no P in wet suit. EASY.

The company is only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Rotorua and from there they suit and boot you up with all of the necessary gear (wetsuit, lifejacket, helmet etc.) Then one more short shuttle journey to the rafts and it's the start of your awesome ride down the Kaituna River.

The river is home to some small waterfalls, a very large one (7m) as well as lots of Maori history which the tour guide explains to you. It's certainly a little daunting at first when they mention falling out, but hold on "get down" and you'll be fine.

What to do: White water rafting ($95pp) and Water Sledging ($109pp) check backpackersdeal for deals.
