The Lake may take centre stage when talking about Taupo, but this small town in the centre of the North Island has a lot more to offer than just a lake ( even if it is huge.)
If you've come to New Zealand for a mixture of activities and relaxing- Taupo is where you need to be. The town seems minitaure in comparison to the huge Lake, but it makes up for its small size with lots of shops, bustling restaraunts, a world famous Mcdonalds and the options of bungy jumping, skydiving, cycling, trekking, swimming in thermal pools or taking a day trip to Tongariro National Park.
